The Last Unicorn
“The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone. She was very old, though she did not know it, and she was no longer the careless color of sea foam but rather the color of snow falling on a moonlit night. But her eyes were still clear and unwearied, and she still moved like a shadow on the sea.”
This project is a heartfelt tribute to the enduring magic allure of Peter S. Beagle's gorgeously written novel “The Last Unicorn”. In bringing to life this illustration and motion practice inspired by the book, I touch upon the moment where the solitary unicorn departs the safety of her woods to search for her missing kin.
